Face To Face

I used to write love letters for my friends in secondary school and it attracted a variety of rewards – automatic choice in 5-aside, snacks, being deleted from noise makers list, etc. I write for Christ now to win His lovers because it’s eternally rewarding.

A new girl transferred to our school and would snub most of the boys. I was dared to write her and prove if my letters were universal software or local to familiar templates. I sent a junior student but she tore the letter before even reading it! She sent the boy back thus: “tell him to come and say it face to face”! I’m naturally shy till date and facial recognition is tough for me because I hardly look into people’s faces. Not going would surely affect my romantic market, so I decided to face the leviathan!

I mastered my rhymes and serialized my stanzas. I intended to be poetic using animated lyrics with short verses. Ready for action, the challenge was my diction; she was refined, but my remedy was to use solemn melody under a measured expression. I’d roll my tongue when the words were sweet and fold my lips when the letters were stressed. It worked! She gave a sound sigh, then a sparkling sign followed by a swollen smile! Offering a soft sorry for tearing my letter was my school leaving certificate. She said; “I’m not a letter type, my stimulus is for voice notes, love is personal, true words are best transmitted face to face” (Something like that))! I knew I met my literary senior! All we did was to exchange novels for two terms.

Don’t generalize your relationships. God didn’t make souls in mass production, He was particular to install unique specifications. Great relationships are emotionally elastic, intellectually dynamic and spiritually exotic. Don’t treat your modern wife like a traditional mother. Don’t approach a white collar husband like a blue collar dad.
